Situated on the Gulf of Mexico and located within Baldwin County, Gulf Shores is a beautiful beach city in the southernmost portion of Alabama. According to the 2010 Census, Gulf Shores was made up of 9,700 individuals.

Gulf Shores was incorporated as a city in 1958. The completion of the Intracoastal Waterway in 1937 and the opening of the Gulf State Park in 1939 were both major contributors to the incorporation of the city. An increase in tourism and activity in the area also contributed to the eventual establishment of Gulf Shores.

There are several things to see and do in Gulf Shores. The city’s proximity to the beach offers many attractive activities. Swimming, fishing, boating, and sailing are a few of the exciting opportunities available in the area. Other events such as the Lighted Christmas Parade, Beach Celebration, and Snowball Drop during the holiday season also provide fun and excitement. Gulf Shores’ annual Mardi Gras Parade dates back to 1978 and features floats of all kinds.

Weather in Gulf Shores tends to remain mild throughout the year.  The months of winter experience daytime highs in the low to mid-60s and tend to remain above freezing at night. However, despite Gulf Shores’ mild winter climate, temperatures have dipped well below freezing. Individuals will find it wise to invest a heating system to keep comfortable indoors.

Gulf Shores’ summers are characterized by warmer temperatures and high humidity levels. June, July, and August tend to be the warmest months of the year.
