Foley AL

Foley AL is a city and the county seat of Baldwin County, Alabama. The city is located 25 miles north of Mobile, on the bank at the mouth of Dog River. It is included in the Gulf Shores-Foley metropolitan area as well as the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent Metropolitan Area. As of 2000, its population was 13,659.

Foley combines a small-town atmosphere with easy access to larger cities such as nearby Montgomery and Birmingham. Foley has several golfing options from public courses to private country clubs including Magnolia Grove Golf Club and Frasier Island Golf & Country Club. Fishing is a popular attraction for visitors each year. A public boat ramp provides direct access to both Big Lagoon and Little Lagoon. The prime fishing times are in the spring and fall when many visitors come to try their luck catching black drum, speckled sea trout, flounder, redfish, Spanish mackerel, cobia, and blue crab.

Foley Public Schools are part of the Baldwin County Public School System. The system serves around 14,000 students each year with an estimated budget of $118 million dollars. Several high schools in the area offer advanced placement programs including Foley High School which is rated "A" by the Alabama State Department of Education for academic achievement.
